Anyone know someone or somewhere close to Winston-Salem with a BIG metal lathe? I need to drill/tap some suspension links. 2" OD. Most lathes will hold 2", but you can chuck them in close to the chuck, so it would not be very accurate.

I know a guy that has one, but I was wanting to drill/tap them this week if possible, and he can't do it for a couple weeks.

BTW, it is aluminum, so it drills easily, and I have both the drill bit and the tap.

Thanks

A good lathe with a bed long enough should do the trick. As long as they have all the right tooling it should cut just fine without having to be feed through the head.

I can do it on my lathe, but its in Dallas (about exit 17 on I85). I could probably do it on one of the lathes here at school this weekend also, but you would still have to drive to Charlotte.

I will call one of my teachers from Forsyth Tech tomorrow and see if I might can come up there to do it.

Matt, I am starting a new job on Monday, my first day will be in Charlotte, and then a week or two later I will be in Greenville SC for training, so that might be an option if I can't do it here before.

Thanks

Sure, let me know.
