I hope this is the right area to post this! Anyways, I have a Cobra 29 Nightwatch that has been sitting in my toolbox for about 4 years now since I have no clue how to set it up! I need recommendations for an antenna for it, and just any recommendations in general y'all can make as to setting it up! Heck, if there's somebody in the Charlotte area that knows how to set up a CB, I'll happily pay for your help! I just want to get it wired up and start using it since it'd be an awesome asset on trail rides! Thanks!!! :)

I can help im in n charlotte

AWESOME!!! WHat do you recommend that I get antennae-wise and what other stuff will I need? I'm assuming all I'd need an antennae, a mounting bracket (I think I'll do either rear bumper or inside the bed rail), some wiring for power (what gauge?), a grommet for the antennae cable leaving the cab, and a grommet for the firewall. (IIRC, the best way to are a CB power is directly to the battery?) I'm debating on where to mount the CB (it's a big one), does its proximity to other electrical items in the cab of the truck matter? (like radio, hvac, etc) I am thinking of either mounting it below the dash (that would be kinda close to all those things) or cutting the headliner where there's a void (where the upper trim levels of my truck have sunroof/power rear window controls) and mounting it there. (would be well away from electronics but a PITA to mount)

You don't want it give it to me to install in my truck. I can help ya if you want, Flint or Jason would be good one to talk to about setup in the club though. Need to install mine soon as well.

Hadn't gotten a chance to check this, offroad cowboy: Cool if I give ya a call on Sunday?

The muddiger- I got a radioshack knockoff of a firestick, 20' of cable, a mount and I'l be getting a spring for it whenever my $10 off coupon is good. (they give you a coupon for a few weeks later t get you to come in again) Hopefully it'll work well!

Yea thats fine what you have is a good start all you would have to decide is where you would like to put it i have mine mounted inside the bed on the front wall my dually will be mounted through the bed rail with twin 6 foot whips on it

Hey Morgan, did you get all set up yet? If not, here's my input:

If you want to be able to power the cb without the car on, then run it straight to the battery. I wouldn't worry about forgetting to turn it off when you leave the truck, I've accidentally done it a couple of times and my battery always started my car right up. Otherwise, just splice it in your fuse box.

You will want a top loaded antenna (there will be more coil wraps near the top) which I believe you already have. Obviously the taller, the better, but you will want to compromise to avoid running into obstacles.

As far running the coax next to other electrical components, I'm sure it is advisable to avoid interference but I just ran my wires in my most simple path running it next to other wires and it has been fine .
