I went looking around last night on the google and I was trying to find dual monitor software on the cheap. And by cheap, I mean free. I run dual monitors at work but I don't have them set up for badassness yet. I need to add a taskbar to the left monitor and I'd also like to be able to spread a wallpaper across the two of them. I downloaded a program called Multimon Taskbar but it is a bare bones type program. I really wanted the Start button on the taskbar but really all it allows you to do is move programs from one screen to the other easier.

Anybody got any suggestions?

What operating system are you running on your computer? Most modern systems support dual monitors as long as your video card will support it.

display fusion pro.....in the usual places

Ultra mon has been around awhile.
Also, if you have an nVidia or ATI video card, typically they have reference drivers that have that kind of stuff built in. I know the nVidia drivers offer neat gizmos liek transparency when moving and spreadin ga window across 2 monitors.

I've been using multiple monitors for probably a decade.
Note that 2x the display does not = 2x the work accomplished :D but sometimes you can convince your boss anyway

that's the plan

isn't Ultramon a pay for program?

oh yeah, we used ultra-mon for a long time before someone had to buy a license.

I just deal with toolbar on one monitor with my nvidia card

yeah it's a pain. this may be laughable but I'm always looking for ways to be more efficient at work. I'm the only one in my office with 2 monitors right now. I have to pour through a lot of data and put together different analyses daily so every little bit helps. they won't let me download programs at work either so I have to get there here at home and then take them to work on a stick
