Hey guys. New to off roading. I've always been a car guy. Muscle cars, German sports cars, import tuners, I've done it all. Honestly, I don't really know what I'm doing! I'm thinking about hitting URE tomorrow in my almost stock Disco. Any advice?

Lol you will be fine, we are just messing with you. But definitely don't go alone. I once saw a lifted, stretched 2wd Volkswagen beetle with swampers on the back on the trails out there. He was with a big gang of folks, having a blast.

Dont let those VW beetles fool ya. I have had them, an they will make most peoples mouth hit the ground that dont know what they will do in the woods.

The best financial choice you will ever make is DONT GO! If you do then welcome to your newest addiction!! Have fun and be safe and remember to allways go with at least one other vehicle, take your time and get the feel of your rig, and dont get over your head your first time out. other than that, be prepared for the itch to want to go bigger and better for now on!!

Make sure you know how engage 4wd before you enter the woods. Several years ago I no into what looked like a high school kid and his girlfriend who took daddy's land rover out for a spin. They were freaking out because the trail was "hard". I spotted them thru a creek crossing on Dutch John (now spanned by a bridge or logs) and relized they were in 2wHI, and he was beating and banging this thing all over the place I told them to put it in 4LO, they had no idea what I was talking about. I peeked in didn't see a stick on the floor, told them to look for a button or knob for 4wd. She fumbled thru the owners manual, I think he found something, and crawled right out, and on their merry way.

If your afraid of dents, scratches, or broken drive train parts don't get started cause when you get addicted that's where your going. Of course for the most of us they are beauty marks & an excuse to put something better in the place of a broken part.

So I'm back!

You were all correct about not going alone, but we did anyways. We got good a stuck and learned a tough but fun lesson. An awesome guy in a Polaris 800 atv pulled us out and we accepted the limits of the vehicle. I also learned how to engage thecdl today since they make it hard in disco 2s. Learned a lot for next time and got some battle scars.

a polaris 800?? no sir you were not "good and stuck" that wont be until you have been "go get daddys tractor stuck" haha welcome to the darkside!! have fun!!

scared to death!!!!!

So I heard a land rover, jeep, and toyota were all going in the woods and I figured I would come pull y'all out with my ford

Good and stuck is when one tractor gets stuck trying to pull you out and you have to go get another tractor.

Wheeling is like herpes. Once you have the bug, it will never go away.

Never seen that comparison before. Got a good laugh. So should one's crotch start to itch after wheeling awhile too? o_O
