Just picked up a 2001 GC 4x4 with 4.7 last week. It has been running fine with no serious issues. Over the last few days I noticed the frt left tire was starting to vibrate when stopping. I figured I would just need new rotors soon as with many WJ's. Today I took off on I-40 and when I got up to 60-65 it started vibrating at the frt end so bad that I had to slow down to 40-45 and get off at the nearest exit. I pulled in to Clark Tire and they diagnosed it as being 2 stuck frt calipers and warped rotors.
They said I need new calipers, rotors and pads. Then they said after installing those items they can check and see if the master cylinder is the cause of both sticking at once.
Has anyone had this situation with their GC and did it end up being the master cyl.
I knew that WJ's were known for bad brakes and undersized factory calipers but is my problem common. I'm about over this new purchase... as I've learned the WJ is known to have a rattling motor at cold start, crazy noises in the dash doors, bad brakes, bad window regulators, common smoke from valve seals, crap oil sending units, sunroofs that won't open and on and on...someone tell me what's the positive points of the WJ
