hey i just moved to winston salem,nc from florida. i have a 87 jimmy full size 4" of lift and 33's. i'm dying to get some mud on the tires. i jusy dont know where to go is there any where around winston or with in a 1hr drive???
 
DPG = <1hr south on 109 (invite ONLY!)
URE = 1-1.5 hrs south on 109
Calallantee = 2.5hrs north on 421
Tellico = 5-6hrs west on I-40 then thru the gorge
Windrocks & RoyalBlue = 5hrs west on I-40 to Clinton, TN
Potts Jeep Rd = 3-3.5hrs north on I-77

There are sevral other places in the 5-12 hour range, but this will get you going :beer:

A couple 10ths of a mile on the right is Eldorado Outpost... buy your day/season Trail Pass there. They will give you a trail map if you ask.

There's several posts in in this forum regarding URE trips... or just show up & find someone to ride with... have your rig ready (no "breaks" waiting to happen, have tow points, recovery gear, & food/water) and have a good time...
 
thanks, yall have been very helpful. i have to go out of town this weekend but i would like to go sometime. maybe near the end of the month? ill keep lookin at upcoming events. do yall meet some where brfore going or just show up?
 
at ure everybody pretty much meets up at the "outpost" which is the gas station/grill in the national forest.
 
You're right down the road from me. I know some other wheelers here, too, but most of our rigs are down right now! I should be getting a few guys up for Uwharrie sometime in July, if all works out. I'll let you know. I'm driving a pretty stock Sammi, so you shouldn't have too much trouble keeping up! ;)
