my cherokee has now thrown me a curve. was gonna put new starter in it. tested old one, nothing wrong with it. i put the charger on the battery and it just kicks it off. thought it was something wrong with the charger, so i put my truck up to it to jump it off. it just throws a hell-of-a spark that you can weld to and starts smoking at the terminal.
seems like the polarity has reversed somehow. and yes they are attached to the right posts.(i know your gonna ask)
someone told me that it may be the voltage regulator, but it doesnt make sense to me.
i replaced the solenoid on the firewall thats just below the reulator, so thats not the problem. i replaced it because it just vibrated loudly when i tried to start the jeep originally.
what the hell is wrong with this thing. i just want it started so i can work on the rest of it.
