New and used truck prices......holy smokes!

yes, the truck market is out of sight.Im at the auctions almost every week . and I see dealers giving retail for some. I just dont see how that can work. I bought my 06 f250 new. the only way I could afford it was ford was offering 0% for 72 mnths. was still a stout pmt. even worst after being laid off. but I finally paid it off and now that turd is all mine. lol

I agree, the prices are crazy as hell. I was initially looking at purchasing a 4dr second gen 99-02 (damned 03 has powered metal con rods iirc) and with 200,000 miles they were 8k+. Six speed? Closer to 11k. 4x4 and six speed? About 14k. Ones with fewer than 200k were far higher. Like hell I'd be able to get that financed. Dodge was even worse, and ill be damned if I'm buying a dodge with an auto trans.

I wound up buying an 05 2wd 4dr 6spd longbox cummins with just at 200k on the clock, and needing at least a pair of tires for 12k out the door with 2.75% financing for 4 years at the credit union I frequent. It had sat on the lot with 14k on the window initially, but had been there several months. She wasn't exactly the prettiest on the lot, and for some reason everybody around here thinks they NEED a 4x4. It was a Texas truck, so I know the dealership didn't give much at all for it, and I could've found a better deal if I traveled, but DD'ing the jeep was getting scary dangerous and I needed a ride quickly.

About two weeks later, they had an 06 4dr 6spd 4x4 longbox cummins on the lot with around 150k, the price? $24k... To Hell with that shit. I don't understand what happened with these prices, nor do I understand how anybody can afford to pay so much for a nearly 7 year old truck.

I was talking with two guys at work tonight and they both want new trucks and seem to think they'll just run right out and get whatever they want for next to nothing!

One guy wants a 2010 or 2011 Sierra 1/2 ton, crew cab, Z71. Said he's not gunna pay more than about 18k. I then proceed to tell him that he won't get one until about 2025 if that's all he wants to pay. I looked on Craigslist real quick and didn't see many less than 27k for what he wanted. He wants a NEW truck for what you'd pay for a 99 Silverado.

The other guy wants a 2012 or newer F150. He did at least say he was going to put about 10k down on it, that'll definitely help him out. I was looking around for him and they were anywhere from 24-34k depending on options, 4x4, and cab configuration.

I'm gunna keep all my old toys :D

I just sold my work truck to a dealer. 07.5 LTZ crew z71 chevy. Had 120k miles and was using oil at about 1 qt per 1500 miles. I told them this and they still gave me 17k for the truck cash. I went and bought my current work truck 08 duramax 4wd crew cab with a service bed on the back with 100k on it for 20k. There is deals out there but you have to be quick and have the money.

Before long? I see that ALLLL the time...I'm dead between two military bases (Cherry Point and Camp Lejeune) and they don't mind jacking the prices up and craigslist is just ridiculous!
