Chevy Cobalt? Great gas mileage, 2 door, affordable, Don't know much about the durability of the car.
Honda Accord Coupe? Speaks for itself.
Mitsubishi Eclipse? New ones are SHARP. The 2.4 liter engine they made forever is a dependable engine. I can't speak on the 6 cyls.
Pontiac Solstice - Sharp car, cheap on gas. Hasn't been out long enough to determine durability.
Hyundai has came a long way with the quality/durability of their cars.
On the Slightly Used/New debate..... If it was a primary car (with the exception of gas guzzlers at the moment) that I intend to keep for a while - I'm all for a new car. I find value in the fact that it's not been abused in any way, and the factory warranty is a bonus. The depreciation on some mid size/compact sedans isn't bad. If you plan to keep it... depreciation will most likely not matter.
