Well I went to the snap on No compromise tour tuesday night .
While I was there I was talking too the diagnostic rep about the VERUS and learned quite a bit .So I went over to my sales rep and worked a deal on it and picked it up .It is just like a apple note book but with bluetooth and automotive diagnostics built in .
Here is a link for spec's and info on it .

It has the ability to make a user alot of money if they use all that it will do. I've sold 4 of them and the guys that have them love them, the ones that just see $$$$ are missing the boat.

I agree with you I had a friend that said it was a waste of money .But if you don't want to be at the top of your game then oh well . That is why I make the big bucks .I can say this personally I have invested a lifetime in my tools and job.

Hope you don't lose your job... That would be alot to pay for w/o a job (assuming you didn't pay cash). What does it do that a regular scan tool can't do?

VERUS® Platform
EEMS323W

Diagnostics plus information access in one handheld platform. VERUS puts the answers you need at your fingertips, to manage the complete job from start to finish. With true multitasking and integrated diagnostic functions, now you won’t have to leave the fender to use your repair information system, access technical forums, OEM websites, online parts suppliers, or your favorite internet resources (requires internet service provider).

Fix it right the first time with VERUS. The first fully-integrated handheld diagnostic tool with customer/vehicle records, Scanner, Snap-on Troubleshooter, Component Test Meter, 4-channel lab scope, Fast-Track® reference database, and optional J2534 reprogramming capability.

The genuine Windows XP operating system and internet browser put the world of information at your fingertips. Leverage the combined knowledge of the global technician community via Ask-a-Tech and other online forums. And ShopKey subscribers can use their repair information system on-screen, side-by-side with the diagnostic applications.

Wireless internet access and an 80GB hard drive takes you to a new level of collaboration and information sharing.

A new touchscreen and simplified navigation process, makes it easy to get results quickly. The big touchscreen display shows details and graphics that other handheld tools can’t deliver. That makes VERUS the best choice for navigating detailed schematics, wiring diagrams and other graphic data.

So it's a Toughbook running XP w/ a bunch of applications...? Don't get me wrong, there's value to having everything pre-setup for you - just think it's a brilliant marketing idea.

Although I'm curious about that 4 channel "lab scope", that would be cool if it shows complete waveforms etc, wonder what teh sample rate is.
I'd end up playing w/ that for alot more than car work. Like, turning it it into a DIY EEG system, lol.

soooo, you wanna try this thing out on a truck i want to buy? :D its outside of garner, i could bring it by your shop sometime.......
