So I've been driving my 09 4 door wrangler for the last 66000 miles. It has 35's and other stuff that 85% of all jk's have.
New role at work will have me on highway covering baltimore to atlanta, more bthan 45000 miles per year.
I found a 2011 gmc 4 door half ton, fairly loaded for 28k, about 3k more than I owe on the jeep.

Should I go gmc or stay with the jeep?

The truck will still go to the beack/obx, and tow my yj amd cj. I don't know what to do, the jeep has the lifetime power train warranty.

uh buy a car wtf
Can't tow a CJ with most cars:rolleyes:

But yea, if you have another option for towing the Jeeps, I say get something a little more fuel efficient for driving those distances. Although the GMC would be comfy ride with alot of room in those long drives.

I do concrete repair for a living, mostly sales and some PM work. We travel the south east pretty heavily, lately i have been taking bags of mortar and towing small trailers with the JK. It sucks going from Raleigh to Charleston with 20 bags, a chipper, vacuum, drill mixer and hand tools.

If i'm going aomewhere and driving past a city we are working in, I usually see if they need anything from the shop, so a truck makes good sense. the 4x4 lets me get onto freeman park and the obx. It will allow me to tow a rig to ure, gulches, or up to rausch creek. And will definately be better on the road.

I have thought about a 2500 dodge with the cummins, way more thruck than I need but for $7k or so more maybe. I also have talked to my FIL who swears he gets 24 MPG in his 03 3500 cummins when empty. Its chipped and has ricer exhaust. FWIW

Also - its worth mentioning, company paid gas card and vehicle allowance, and 3 kids (3,6 and 9). The only direction from the boss was needs to have double digit economy. We hired a new guy back in September with a 6.0 powerstroke, he cost us about $450/week in fuel, he lives 50miles away from the office, we bought him a 2 door nissan frontier (company pwned)

I suggest you let me price you a gmc. lol. I just started at a gm dealer

but I understand a truck verses the jeep and a trailer

is it worth keeping 35's, lift, bumpers on the jeep, or going back to stockish? I have all parts and would take a day or so.

PM me an email addy, I'll shoot you the truck i'm looking at.

id get the truck. for your purposes it sounds like it'll work a lot better than the jeep, and be a helluva lot more comfortable to drive.

Umm. Let them buy you a frontier. Keep the Jeep.

Frontier from company = no vehicle allowance. See below.

Wait, you still owe $25k on the Jeep?

Yup. Bought it last year, $31k, i think i owe @22,300 or so now. Don't want to take the payment without getting the reimbursement from the boss. I had the option when I hired on here to get a 2 door nissan truck, but with 3 kids to pick up every day on my way home from work, it does not fit. So I took the money and bought the Jeep.
