Hey all,

I posted a little while ago about wanting to turn my WJ into a rock crawler. Well my plans have changed a lot. I will no longer be building my WJ because I will need it as my daily driver.
Instead I just got a 95 ZJ limited with a 5.2L V8 46RH/NV249 with 140K on it, so I will be building the ZJ instead. I will post pictures as soon as I can, I still need to go pick it up but cannot do this for a 2 weeks. I am leaving for Idaho on Sunday and will be back next Saturday. The only problem with it is the previous owner’s son hit a tree with the drives side door. The ZJ is white with a green door. Also they did not hook up the wiring for the door so I will need to do that to have power locks and windows.

I am wondering what will be easier to swap in a 231 or a 242, also what year tcase and from what year and type of jeep can I get it from?

Well I finally got home and tried to get the ZJ started, the battery is totally dead so I hooked up the jumper cables and the lights started to flash. So I cycled the passenger door lock once and they turned off. I tried to turn it on and there was not enough juice and the lights started flashing again. So I turned the pass door lock again and waited a bit then it finally started. It started up but ran a little rough, but that could be the bad gas because it has been sitting for about 8 months. Is there anyway besides cycling the pass door lock to disable the ignition kill switch?

Also I found out why the door wiring is messed up, the door is off of a 96 Limited so none of the wires match. I will just find a 93-95 ZJ Limited and swap the doors and see if that also helps.

Any info anyone can give would be great.

Well I grounded the purple/yellow wire on the driver side kick panel and the lights did not flash this time. But after about 20 min of running it died on me. Also I think I have a blown head gasket, had some white smoke and it would stumble when I revved the gas. I will be doing a compression test this weekend to find out if it’s a head or manifold gasket that is blown. I am wondering why the engine just stopped running after 20 min.
