Hey folks, I'm new here. Little background on me, I was raised a Chevy guy and have owned two lowered Chevy S10's (still have one of them) but recently I've really wanted a 4x4 as many of my old high school friends have nothing but 4x4's. As a Chevy guy I have gone and done the unthinkable, I bought a Ford product.

It's a 1988 Ford F150 XLT Lariat 4x4.
5.0 L 302, automatic
fully loaded, power everything
32x11.50x15" BF Goodrich A/T's

Future plans for it include a little rust clean up and prevention. The hood and roof of the truck need some TLC. It's got a little surface rust but that's nothing I can't handle in an afternoon. I plan to take a weekend and sand, primer, and lay down a home done coat of cheap paint. It also needs some new valve cover gaskets, but again no big deal, and in time.

Now for the fun part... the aftermarket goodies! It's getting a 4" Rough Country suspension lift asap! I also plan to get a set of 33x12.50x15's once it's lifted. Most likely Bridgestone Deuler M/T's if I buy new unless I can find something used quicker & cheaper. Money's the big issue when it comes to tires. I also really have to get myself a CD player in it as nothing but a stock radio sucks. Planning on ordering a Pioneer DEH-3800MP headunit this weekend. I'm undecided on the speakers and subwoofers for now, but they're not near the top of the list. I've also gotta hook up my CB radio stuff soon. I've got a 102" stainless steel whip and a 4" spring that I plan to mount on the toolbox. That's probably going on tomorrow.

Let me know what you guys think. It's a little rough around the edges, but for what I paid and for as long as I looked, I couldn't ask for more. And so far have really been enjoying owning the truck.

Yeah, and can I have your driver door...
Nah, sorry. hahaha I kinda need it.

Little update since I last posted...

This weekend I took my it off road for the second time since I bought it about three weeks ago. My friend has about 10-15 wooded acres with trails cut all through it. Thats where we go. The first time I went wheelin on his trails I hit a tree... by accident. Didn't hit anything this time, but my bumper and valance (in different places) did catch a stump in a big pit. I was also thankful that Ford's mirrors fold in as that came in handy a few times.
As I was making my way out of the woods aftering having a good deal of fun (and just as much agrivation) my power steering started to whine pretty good. I climed the hill I had already started up and parked it when things leveled off. The seal where the pitman arm connects to the bottom of the steering box blew and was leaking power steering fluid and a decent drip. I'm certain it wasn't on account of damage or anything, it was just from me putting extra stress on the system. No way I could have hit it as far up as it was. It was probably on its way out anyway. I just sped the process up. Anyway, I got the truck out of the woods with a little effort and filled her up on power steering fluid and made my way home.
Needless to say though, the Ford is seriously out of commission for a while until I can figure out what to do. Still deciding on a plan of attack. I'm pretty sure I'm going buy a new steering box (or pay our regular mechanic to rebuild the current one) but the thing is, if I wait to put the box on until I lift the truck that'll save me some time and work. Unfortunately that means leaving the truck out of order for even longer, which sucks.
On the up-side I got my Pioneer CD/MP3 player installed on Friday (with a little help from my roommate, GoneMuddin1) and the same day my dad found out where my oil leak is comming from (it was the valve cover gaskets after all) and he also found out that there really is only one fuel filter. So it's all good.
I was going to order my Rough Country 4" susp. lift kit last Tuesday but a slight money issue held me up. Now I'm kinda glad I didn't order it because I would have been in some serious money trouble, but also because one of my friends back home got the same darn kit for A LOT less than I was going to pay for it.
Sorry for the novel. Here are some more pics. I know the truck isn't extremely dirty, but I wasn't mudding the truck. I was just riding trails. That and it was pretty wet that day. Not optimum mud flingin conditions, as my roommate said. hahaha

This pic is of my 102" stainless steel whip antenna for my CB. From the ground to the tip it measures 13 feet, 5 inches. Too bad I haven't had time to get the radio itself install yet. Grrr...

My new Pioneer DEH-3800MP. I love this headunit! It's more than worth what I paid for it!

Sounds like fun! Next time get some pics of it flexing and some on the trail!

If I aint mistaken, that first set of pics looks like it was taken at UNCC. Are you Brandon and Spence's rm that just got the F150?

Hey man. This is Tyler, Ben's rm. You came over to our apt. the other night, lol. Nice looking truck. You need some 35's on that thing.
