Hi all! New to the forum here. I'm up in Kalamazoo, Michigan and just recently got a Wrangler. My folks are now down near Greensboro, so I make a few trips every year to NC. I am hoping to get some good advice on places to wheel around Greensboro, and possibly meet some people.

My next trip down is after Christmas through New Year's. I see Uwharrie is popular, but unfortunately closed at that time (definitely coming in the Spring/Summer time). Any recommendations on places to wheel this time of the year, possibly during the week? Would Brown Mountain be worth a 2.5hr drive for the relatively few trails open to 4x4's?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the board,

Brown will be closing 12/31, I believe, If I have my dates right.

Its not bad if you are in the area and just want to trail ride for a little while, But I would not advise making the trip just for brown.

I would advise checking out Callalantee OHV in Mt City TN, Its not that bad of a drive for you from Greensboro. 2 hours and 45 mins, But it would be worth the drive.

Stock so far... 2009 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 6spd. It does pretty well, the front & rear lockers help. Biggest drawback is the long wheel base of the 4dr.

Up here I run quite a bit, sand dunes, forest trails, gravel pits (which always seem to contain a lot of mud). Variety is good!

Welcome falcon, glad to have you. Michigan is a great state, was up in Traverse City last fall and went to the dunes! Amazing as to the size, also went out on Torch Lake and to to Petoski. Anyway, nice to meet ya.

I am from MI myself I was born in Charlevoix and my mom and some other family are still up there
