I'm new to the 4x4 community and i'm serisouly looking at a land roer discovery for a part time daily driver and alsofun trail vehicle(i know their reputation i just have a thing for european vehicles) my biggest question is is it practical to have a trail vehicle in charlotte? are there places not far away to really enjoy the vehicle ad have fun? i woul just hate to buy something for that purpose to find out i hardly get a chance to use it for what i really want to.

Well, vehicle choice aside, there is uwharrie. They even have a a day just for range rovers. You could go there and help clog the trails and there is brown mountain that is doable for you and some old roads around blowing rock. That's about all I know if where you will not get stuck too often. Or you could get a jeep or a yota and be able to go to some more challenging places.:D Welcome to the forum

Toyota fzj80 is what you need :D and its fine to have a trail oriented vehicle in Charlotte, many people do it all the time.

Great thanks alot for the info guys! I just have a unexplainable thing for european cars I work on them alot and have had alot of projects in the past(mercedes, bmw's) and I worked at underground racing as a shop manager and small stuff tech occasionally, but this will be my first 4x4 ever and i'm looking forward to it alot. I like the idea of a capable 4x4 but comfortable drive at the same time i can put my kid into with the leather interior an nice luxury features.

Underground, eh? You puttin twin turbos on this rover? There is also gultches in upstate SC that would be do-able but that big body might be shredded

There's a couple places around charlotte to trail, there's a couple near uncc that's good. I take my dd zj out every now and then. I'm out in mint hill and there's a spot 5 minutes from me
