Just got a 2002 Wrangler Saharah and have 3 questions:

1) Do I want to lift it at all? It would only be to improve the looks as it is stock now.

2) If so, what looks good? I am thinking 1-3"

3) Can I do this myself with limited tools and common sense?

Thanks for your help folks!

this is a very loaded newbie question but here ya go since im bored at work.
1) Well do you want to lift it because you dont like the looks now. If so then do it...
2) Search around for TJs you like and then find out what they are running. If they are runnin a 3" lift and thats what you like roll with it.
3) if you have some mechanical knowledge then yes you will be fine doing a budget lift on up to a 3" lift maybe...if the common sense you are talking about is more related to not grabing a hot coal out of a fire then you should probably find some local guys to you and buy some beer and pizza and bribe them over to help or at least supervise the install.

2" Budget Boost, 1 inch body and 1 inch Motor Lift, and your good to fit 33's.

Best and most economical way to go about that.

full cage, comp cut, 4 link F&R, 1 tons, 42 iroks, LS1, Stak, coilovers, beadlocks, OBA, Chaz Michael Michaels bobble head that you get free from blockbuster when you buy Blades of Glory.:driver:

yep if you dont put 1 tons under it you cant mall crawl

LIFT IT

You Should lift it. But thats up to you. Wranglers aren't known for a great stock ride. You could get a great lift kit at a small price. Consider the millage on the vehicle and figure out what items are worn or 1/2 dead. This includes tire. A lift kit could also bring you a few extra bucks in the resale. But going higher does mean bigger tires for a bigger price. Take some time to consider. Dont go to tall or to wide of a tire or you hurt your fuel millage. If you have a 4 cyl. I might not go for a lift at all. Maybe just spring spacers. 4 cylinders dont like big tires.

All Jeeps were meant to be lifted

look around and figure out how big you want to get and also figure out how much you might want to keep wrenchin on it/ possibly wheeling it in the future. if you just wanna lift it for looks go with the budget boost and/or a body lift. if you think you might want to keep progressing on it look into a good 3.5 inch kit, it will be more expensive at first but you can later on add on either 4.5" springs with that same kit or just a 1 inch body like and run 35s fine of you have a dana 44 then you can do an 8.8 swap for a little more money. either way, you will be able to run those 33s no prob, you might not wanna get bigger. basically do some research and weigh out your options..

sometimes I wish I didn't lift mine.... every few months I have to fix something.... Hell this month I'm gonna do the beer and pizza route.

oohhh eric......
