what it is,
91 yj. narrowed 12.5 inches. floor/firewall cut out, replaced with alu. dovetailed, rear frame cut off and replaced with 2x4. all alu links, 4 link rear, 3 link front with panhard. yota fj 80 front, taco rear. both e-locked. sway-away coilovers in the front, fox airshocks out back. 40" mtr's (for now)
100" WB, 21" belly clearence, 65" to top of cage.
will be getting a 4.3/ t350/300 in the next few weeks.
I think it'll work!

today, i chopped the hood to give it more rake and moved the grill, filled up the airshocks, sat in it for a while:huggy:

yeah, it'll be gettin a set of the 80 longs. next winter it'll get a rear steer axle built, also using 80 outers. share the spare's. the lower links are all the same length, so i can share a spare, and the driveshafts should also be swappable!

That thing is bada$$, you don't realize how small it is until you see it in person. I guess you decided on the running gear now.

yeah travis. running gear is picked out. I guess!
got a little more done today. cut a perfectly good windsheild down to fit
ai4.photobucket.com_albums_y122_35xj_olblue010.jpg

did a little work on the dash
ai4.photobucket.com_albums_y122_35xj_olblue014.jpg

a little more work on getting the lower hood line to line up
ai4.photobucket.com_albums_y122_35xj_olblue018.jpg

here's the hood line from the side
ai4.photobucket.com_albums_y122_35xj_olblue015.jpg

and i'm sure somebody is wondering "why not 60's?"
ai4.photobucket.com_albums_y122_35xj_olblue017.jpg

its coming along

Dave... looking sweet man! Get that thing rolling! After football is over then i will be ready to do alot more big trips. Cruiser got a chromoly rear output  hopefully that will fix the problem. Talk to ya soon duder

Nice, that clearance is awesome. W/S looks alittle odd on there though. And I love the way you cut the hood down.

Travis, I will definatly have to do it. Give me a shout next time yall go out. I have football 6 days a week and school but i may be able to get away for a weekend.

it'll be spring before this thing is on the trail. Plan is to put all the drivetrain in it do all the welding etc, then pull it all the way back apart for bodywork etc. Gonna get this one paited by a pro!
It'll all get gone through, plan to see how mean a 4.3 we can build! stroker???
EVERYTHING will be gone through, cleaned, painted then reasembled.
I figure spring should have it done.

been keeping a fairly close tab on costs thus far. ( to deprees me later) so far as it sits its at $ 5600 not too bad i suppose.
and travis, the windsheild does look strange in the pics. but in person it looks "right" its funny to look at mine and Eriks side by side for comparison.

got the steering hooked up today. started planning the ram mount. did a little gusseting, looks like i'm picking up motor tranny tomorow!

allready bought her a comanche!

So i guess you wont be wheelin for a while.....looks good. A little different than the buggy, but it will be interesting watching you try to keep all that sheet metal straight. I may just have to ride the bike up there and check it out one day....the mountains are nice this time of year.

Seth

i guess its time to do a little update!

Got all the drivetrain in it. 99 vortec 4.3/t-350/300
ai4.photobucket.com_albums_y122_35xj_mtr005.jpg

got the tube/frame/axles all painted up!
Got the fuel cell positioned out of the way to allow as much "bed space" as possible. moves the pass seat 4" forward of mine. (girlfriend wanted to be able to touch firewall) so it worked out well
ai4.photobucket.com_albums_y122_35xj_olblue036.jpg

ai4.photobucket.com_albums_y122_35xj_olblue038.jpg

Got a little more cut out of the hood got it a little lower in the front
ai4.photobucket.com_albums_y122_35xj_buggy012.jpg

got the winch mount finnished up. it sits behind the rad/electric fan and the rope will come out of the front bumper:huggy:
ai4.photobucket.com_albums_y122_35xj_buggy014.jpg

ai4.photobucket.com_albums_y122_35xj_buggy009.jpg

got FINAL ride height figured out!
ai4.photobucket.com_albums_y122_35xj_buggy004.jpg

question?

does the cage need a diagonal?
ai4.photobucket.com_albums_y122_35xj_buggy002.jpg

ai4.photobucket.com_albums_y122_35xj_buggy008.jpg

Cage is only 36" at top, not really sure that it needs anything, but i had thought about putting a tube froom the upper pass corner node down to the driver lower. pics show the seat bar/sholder bar. All are 120 wall and pretty structural.

also got the rear winch mount built. Winch is low and centered in the rig
ai4.photobucket.com_albums_y122_35xj_olblue039.jpg

cut 5" from the front bumper (don't need it with the winch under the hood!

That thing is looking sick.. realy unique!

I haven't looked much at Kirkey seats, but are they supposed to be mounted like that? Only reason I ask is that imagine the forces of your body bouncing should you wreck hard.. seems if you have backward motion, the seat could deform around that mount, which would really f-up your back..

I was thinking the same thing, it just looks " wrong "

The rest of the rig looks sweet though !

yeah, i have a plan to fix that. does it need a diagonal in b ack of the cage???
