New sound from my DD

My DD is a Yukon XL, and recently after I drive any distance, when I turn the motor off and get out, I hear some popping sound that I think sounds like metal cooling. The sound appears to be coming from the muffler/cats. Could it be the muffler is heating up more than usual because some of the baffeling has clogged, or come loose? I don't notice a different exhaust note.

Just looking for some ideas of what it could be.

I had the same problem on my old Sierra and Suburban. Never did anything about it and never cared to. My wife's cousin's Suburban does it too. Weird sound.

it sounds like the converter cooling.

it's not uncommon to hear them cooling.
the reason i was asking about the cel is i wanted to make sure it wasn't running rich/lean.
