/\ yeah, what he said. It's a little of a trade off though, the larger wheel does offer more control of the sidewall flex it will cost you some flex in the overall tire. Also, the larger wheel, not having the sidewall there is less protected from trail damage. They work well on lighter rigs that are less likely to slam the wheel into ledges and rocks, but suck on a heavy fullsize rig that will bottom the small sidewall into the bead and screw your 20's hard.
 
A 42 or 44" tire and a 20" rim still has plenty of sidewall for flexing. The Mog I had weighed more than most trail rigs at over 8000#, and it did just fine with stock 20" rims. I guess for a '67 it was way ahead of its time in the bling dept.
