4.0, automatic, 145,000 miles. Seems to have oil blowing out of something somewhere. Oil is on the TOP of the intake. Not a lot, but noticable. I have heard there may be a fix for this type issue (common on the 4.0 engines?) but I can't find the information. Got any ideas or pointers to some information regarding this problem?

Thanks,

greg

The 4.0L I-6 CCV (Crankcase Ventilation) system is known to get clogged up and to blow oil all over the air filter. Have you looked at the air filter to see if it's oil covered? The 4.0L I-6 does not have a PCV valve. I would take all of the CCV lines off of the valve cover and clean them inside really well. A lot of people remove the valve cover and clean the whole inside of it really well which is a very good idea as well. I hope this info helps.

You might want to look on this link for every question you could ever ask about a XJ.

Yhea you shoould get new lines from the dealer ( not expensive). Drill out the hole in the other and when you replace the valve cover gasket( which you will cause it will leak) clean all the baffles in it very well and soak it parts cleaner for a day or take it to get sand blasted

NAXJA is an awesome site. Been using it for 6 years now. That is some nice low miles. Mine has about 240k now. It needs a rebuild since the last 100 were hard earned and itr is starting to smooke and drinks some oil. My air filter is like an oil filter now. Good luck with a great rig.
