Hello I am a new member and jeep owner all in the same week. I bought a 1983 cj-7 today, towed it home and got to work trying to fix a bunch of little things. Everything's street legal except left front blinker and the horn. I replaced the bulb in the light and bought a new horn and relay for the horn situation. Both still don't work and I need to insight...what's next to check not good with electrical stuff. By the way its the 258 bone stock, thank so much

I had a ground problem on mine; cleaned the socket, & the assembly-to-grill, where the screws ground. Check hot wire with a test light. Horn, ? Try a jumper wire straight to it, & see if it blows. Check ground. If horn is good, you might consider a universal horn button, powered from the fuse block.

PS: Welcome to NC4X4

Rodney's plan for the light is spot on. Typical issue on CJs. The horn might be tougher. Try the jumper first to see if it works. If so, I need to know if the steering wheel is stock or aftermarket.

The jumper worked great on the horn, it is the factory steering wheel. I had put a new horn on and the mounting bracket was painted, scraped the paint and it was singing again. As far as the one last turn signal goes....different story. The ground was fine seeing that the parking lamp worked, so next moved to firewall harness which was hard to test being that if you disconnect it you have no power. Tested it from connecter to fixture of lamp and it had power, so had to be under the dash. The rear turn signal worked so somewhat ruled out the switch itself. Ended up being a long connecter with maybe 10 wirers doing in and 20 coming out, bent the prongs a little bit and we had lights! Thank for the help, I'm sure I will become a regular on here!
