I built it a while back. I did not cut any corners on it like some of the others I've seen. What all would you like to know. Heres the build thread.

I was a little upset when he got rid of it but I guess thats how it goes.

When he got rid of it it had an Aussie in the front and nitro cromos alloy USA joints. Rear was a full detroit with stock 31 spline shafts.

ok the guy i got it from said the front had a detriot and the rear was a spool lol. but i know the front doesn unlock any turning so im guessin the aussie's gone lol. im hopin it will be a good rig it looks to be so far.

funny thing is that it was oringally from here, but i had to drive 600 miles to get it today and now its back to where it started life lol

another ? i have is how do you change the rear axel seal im not familur with the 9 inch? is it a full floting rear or what? also how do you unlock the hubs it has a cover over the hub and inside that it has a lock ring and such never seen anything like it before?

The rear is a semi float and it has a four blot flange out at the end of the axle. As for the front it has drive flanges instead of hubs. I had made a tool to pull off that cap and pull the flanges for the road. Just run a 1/2 inch bolt in where the plug is and it will in turn pull off the cap with out having to pry it off.

As far as the drive flanges go, there is really no need to ever pull one or unlock it for any reason as far as i'm concerned(unless someone actually swapped in a spool). That XJ and every jeep in recent history has had drive flanges from the factory.

As far as the front end acting like a spool, there is a good chance the aussie(or lockrite, or whatever) may need a rebuild. When they shear the pins there is a good chance of them locking up and essentially becoming a spool.

wanna sell it yet? seriously...
