im new to the toyota world ive always had jeeps so anyways i have a 85 model questions i have is whats the best way to put power steering on it? and best way to make high steer or which kit is the best it has some kind of shackel reversal on the front with 4 or 5 inch lift springs and chevy springs in the rear. i wanna lower the whole truck so im thinking of putting stock springs in front and taking block out of rear. the stock steering is just so steep the bump steer is aweful and locked in the front hard to steer any help would be greatly appreciated.

if anyone has stock front springs and wanted lift springs id trade

You can swap any ps pump and brackets from a 22r or 22re donor truck or 4 runner. You will need a steering box from any 86-95 4wd. I highly recommend the Hy-steer kit from All-Pro offroad. Toyota guys generaly don't do a shackle reversal. In reguards to running as low as possible, I'd run a 2-3" lift spring and Bud Build bananna shackles up front. There will be clearence issues if you run stock spings with the hy-steer kit. Hope that helps and good luck with the build!

I can't spell either so no worrys lol, here's some pics maybe someone knows what's goin on and what I need to do he said it was 4 inch lift springs and I want to drop it at least 4 inches

What happened to the shocks? they might help just a lil w the bumpsteer. It looks like a mudpit only truck and an accident waiting to happen. The shackles are as factory for position, but the front hangers have been lowered aprox. 3 inches. I don;t think stock springs would help w offroading, they are basically flat and had very limited articulation. Crossover steering is about mandatory w that much lift, maybe some 2" front springs and a droped, drag link would help w the stock steering though. The knuckles look dry/ unlubed too. I would ditch the bodylift to lower it.

Yea I plan on taking body lift off and shocks just need put back on it, I think I'm just gonna get high steer and hopefully that will help alot, it still looks like alot of lift on the truck it has 63 cheby springs in the back with 6 inch blocks I wanna take them out and drop the front it's way to big for 35s I just wanna see what everyone else is doing on these trucks

Take the red painted "torque rod" off and junk it, cut it's bracket off the axle housing and grind smooth. You can get a new front spring hanger from All-Pro or Trail Gear for a reasonable price and cut that homemade hanger out.

Yea I had planned own cutting it off, only reason in lowering it was I was worried bout driveshaft angle I know y'all can't tell much by that pic but you think it is fine the way it is

Wow:eek: I'd ditch the body lift, cut the tall ass front hanger out and weld in a normal one(i'm cheap so Id make your own). As for steering you will need and ifs box(86-95 4wd), I'd also pick up a steering box relocation kit, comes with the plates and sleeves. Springs I'd go ruf(rears of front) and Chevy 63s rear. Those should fit 35s fine, may have to add a small block (<2"). For front shocks you can use f250 stock towers and for shocks you might be able to use the rear shocks of an 02 f250/350 they are 13" travel.

Yeah that front hanger would have to go. Instead of all pro or trail gear I prefer marlan crawler steering just a better product. Go to Datin fab they sell all the hangers and stuff you need and are the same as all pro or trail gear and are great to deal with. You need to take that axle apart and go threw it looks like it needs some tlc. Ditch the torque rod and put a axle gusset on it. Our local North Carolina Toyota Territory Off-Roaders Association can help you with just about anything!
