New to Uwharrie question

so, I have a group of about ten trucks. We are planning on going to Uwharrie on the May 30th weekend. I cannot find a site for the park, or any contact info. Does anyone have it?

The link above is great - here's a link to a store which is basically right at the entrance to the park where you can get trail passes, trail maps, fuel, food, etc.

There's a slightly more detailed trail map here (click through a couple pages to find the latest version) that you might want to print out as well:

I hope you have a great trip!

Ok, so The only park I've been to is Durahamtown. It seems that uwharrie is more than one park? We just started traveling to different parks, and are not sure where to go. We are all running 33-37" tires, we all have winches and lockers. Where would be the best place to go? Also, I'm not sure about lodging. Are there any cabins we could rent for the weekend?

No cabins but camping is available at arrowhead campground. They have showers there and have primitive or electric/water sites.

URE is just 1 trail system with several individual trails, about plus or minus 14 miles in total. Your rigs will be fine. Dickey Bell, Daniel, and Dutch John are the harder trails. The remainder are pretty tame. I run 33's on my Bronco out there.

Put on 31's and turn off/remove the lockers. Uwharrie doesn't have any difficult trails. If it is really wet, there are a couple obstacles that can be challenging but nothing major. I've been all over Uwharrie in my girlfriend's XJ (open/open on worn out 235 car tires) including the middle line on Daniel.

Look at Gulches, The Flats and Windrock for other possible parks that have more difficult obstacles.

Are you looking for some ware to ride, enjoy the outdoors, camp and challenge your rig a little? If so URE is great ! Do you want to push your rig to the braking point? Then do go to URE!

Wow, sounds like uwharrie is actually kinda lame. 14 total miles. That's not worth driving too

It's an absolutely beautiful place, and the 14 miles can feel like more by the time you run them in different combinations and directions... although I agree with what others have said, how much you'll enjoy it I think will at least to some degree come down to how upgraded the trucks in your group are and what you primary reason for going is. If you ARE looking for something on the more challenging end, one thing you might consider is trying to coordinate a scheduled ride at the private trail system across the street that's managed by the Uwharrie Off-Road Training Center (http://www.bigcreek.rocks) along with riding the public trails at Uwharrie... no clue if they have availability that weekend, but those trails have been designed specifically for training so offer plenty of challenges for even more advanced trucks/drivers.

This has been part of what's kept the Uwharrie trails fun for me personally, a 25 year old truck with open differentials and 31's = still plenty of challenges left out there. :driver:

Keep in mind it is tame because it is not a park but a national forrest. Trails are maintained to the gubberments requirements and restrictions on trail difficultly.

Not trying to ruffle feathers. We are all in dedicated trail rigs, not Barbie jeeps. We don't mind damage. But if we are gonna travel, we want to make sure it's worth it. Thanks for the info, we may go to chocolocco or wind rock or gulches. We are not sure yet. It's just not worth driving 4.5 hours for 14 miles of trails. Thanks

I live in Beaufort, sc. It's about 6 hr drive. I'd love to meet with someone local on the weekend we go so they can show us around.

I brother lives at Callawassie, Okatie Island and he gets the URE in a little over 4 hrs. I live 18 miles from URE & he can be in my driveway in 4 hours.

Good chance I will be there with 2-3 trucks!
