According to Recreation Specialist Terry Savery, permitting on the new Lake View OHV trail is progressing with only a couple of departments left to sign off on it before construction begins in mid 2012. An early fall 2012 date is projected as the grand opening of this new addition to the Forest Service OHV trail system.

Nice!

Trail will run approximately 1.5 miles from the intersection of Wolf Den OHV trail and FS516 to the rear of the Art Lilly campground.

Has any club adopted this trail yet and if not what does it take to adopt a trail?

Sounds like the old Big Branch trail.

Clubs don't "adopt" a trail. The FS has a partner program where clubs are "placed" by the FS after completing the partnership process, paper work, approval, etc. in conjunction with input from existing trail "adoptees". There are several clubs in line for this new trail :)

Sounds like the old Big Branch trail.

Basically

Here is a map showing the old trails:

It will mostly be a combination of the old CCC Trail and the Big Branch/Old Falls Dam trail. The upper part of Big Branch that goes up to 576 won't be used. There will also be new sections of trail thrown in there to navigate around archeological sites and other issues. They were 80 percent done with the planning for the trail back in June of 2010 according to Rodney. So progress has been slow but by the end of the year it should be open as posted above.

I like that map!

I don't remember the Rattle Snake Trail. That one must be really old.

maybe the Rattle Snake trail is the one I had to get pulled up out of after ripping my oil pan skid plate off in the rocky flat down below. Back in 1994, I never had a map and trails were not marked well at all.

whats the difficult of the trail?

It will be classified as "Easiest" on the difficulty scale. Most trails at URE started off with this rating. Only over time with erosion and trail use do they gain difficulty. It is supposed to be a nice bunny trail with views of the lake as it has been described to me.
