New Years resolutions?

1. Run 50-miler
2. Build frame and rebuild engine for rat rod project
3. Take my wife on more dates

1. Done. Wasn't fun, but also didn't kill me. Plus it made me get to a point that I actually enjoy a short (4-10mi) run a few times a week now that its over. No plans to ever do anything over a half-marathon again.
2. Making significant progress: frame has been completely stripped, all holes plugged, about 30 dozen chalk mark measurements for layout. Bottom end of engine is complete, heads have been acquired, they're going to the machine shop in the next month or so. Still need to do the figuring' on the intake/carb/cam/valvetrain....
3. Major improvement in this area. We restructured our food budget this year and it has been a huge help in freeing up play$ for getting out and doing stuff besides paying for overpriced meals out. We've made it a point to go on at least one date during the week and something on the weekend. There have been a few weeks with travel or something else coming up that has prevented the 1-week/1-wkend, but doing pretty well at it. Also, leads to making more sex.

1/2 year check in anyone?

Mine was to be happier. Primarily impaired by my job at the time. Thought I could stick it out...couldn't...thought I could wait until I found something...didn't. Quit my job, took 2 months off before I started looking for something. Drank bottles of Blantons and Jefferson Reserve daily, sat around in my boxers, went to Nags Head whenever I wanted. Best two months of my life, and found a job I'm ecstatic at too.

Stop picking my nose, peeing in people's sinks, giving out gear oil handshakes, eating 3lbs of food in one sitting and try to wear underwear mon-fri.
So far so good.

On a more serious note, as I approach 30 very quickly, I notice day by day what benefits age and wisdom bring. From where I was 6 months ago to now, I make 40% more money, drink 34% more beer, eat 29% more bacon, own 300% more guns, have 100% less debt, have 50% better folks to hang out with and have 1000% more fun in life overall. Not bad.
