Hi fellas, Im new to this site and to off-roading in general. I drive a 1984 S10 Blazer 4x4 that has a 2.8L V6. I want to get a lift kit and some other mods, and im going to need help figuring out what to do. Thats why im here.

Welcome. I really don't mean to offend you with what I am about to say, but I am trying to save you from wasting your time and money. A good friend of mine had the same vehicle as you several years ago. If you are serious about getting into fourwheeling, and lifting your truck and doing a bunch of other mods to it, I have to say that there are much better platforms to start with than your S10 Blazer. If you want to stay in a mid size SUV, I highly recommend starting with a late 80's or newer Jeep Cherokee. It has many advantages over the S10:

- MUCH more power (4.0 engine) than the 2.8 in your S10. My buddies 84 S10 Blazer with the 2.8 V6 was ridiculously underpowered
- Fuel injection
- Solid front axle from the factory
- Better ground clearance
- Lift kits are much less expensive
- Tons of aftermarket support
- Tons of used parts available since they built so many

Yeah i wanted a V8 jeep grand cherokee, but i could never find one within the price range i was looking to pay. I tried to sell my blazer last month but nobody was interested in it, so i figured i would just have to do the best i can with what i got. I got a 305 (i know its just as hard to put a 350 in but the 305 i got was $60) that i want to put in it.

Well you could have started out worse with the S-10's cousin the Bravada and not even of had a low range. But its not too bad, here is some of the info:

700R4-Transmission

2.61:1 Low Range

Axle Gear Ratios-
GU1=2.41
GU2=2.73
GU3=2.93
GU4=3.08
GU5=3.23
GU6=3.42
GT4=3.73
GT5=4.10
HC4=4.56

G80 - Gov-Lock

Say you have the 3.73s you come out with a crawl ratio of 29.7 which isn't too bad for a stocker. There is always a chance you ended up with the gov-lock in the rear, which would be a plus. You could do a 21 spline NP231 swap no problem also if you wanted.

So you should be able to have some fun with the S-10. Welcome to the board.
