I just purchased my first 4x4 and joined this site today! Just wondering what you guys thought of my purchase. I snapped a few pics in the dark but I don't know how to post them. Do I have to host the pics on a differant site?
I bought a 91 toyota 22r 4x4 king cab for 2800.
The underbody and engine are super clean with no rust underneath. It does have 200,000 miles though. The body is in good shape, some dings, however no rust. The only thing it is missing is a rear bumper. Brand New tires as well!
So do you think this was a good deal, or did I pay too much?

Are you sure it's a 22r not a 22re? That sounds about right for an ifs truck if it's as clean as you say it is. No cut off the ifs and sas it. If your going to dd then do 4.7 gears in the xfer case, if trail rig double it. Now get to mod'ing it up and go wheeling.....BTW the dents and dings only get worse from here on out!!!!

^ Alright now he is wondering what the heck them abbreviations mean. lol

ifs= independent front suspension
sas= strait axle swap
xfer= transfer
dd= daily driver

You have got the 4 wheeling bug, it will never go away, just enjoy it!!

Thanks for the reply and the further explanation! I know I got a lil truck with lil power but you got to start somewhere!

It may well be a 22re.

It's probably a 22re, and at 200k you may have paid a bit much, depending on how nice it is. (Things wrong with it over normal wear and tear for the mileage.) That said, you won't regret buyin it. I'm assuming it's a 5 speed, so the things to check are the timing chain, (not too loose), the clutch, (how far do you let the pedal out before it starts moving), and fluid levels in everything. Other than that, read a lot here (especially the stickies) and don't be afraid to ask questions. Great bunck of folks here. I vote you wheel it for a while stock so you'll know what you want to do to it first. You'll be surprised where all it will go just as it sits.
