Just for the record, the spelling is:
Callalantee.
(Which I have heard pronounced:
Cal-a-lan-Tay &
Cal-a-lent-E)
I was at Callalantee a while back, and I can definitely see why someone with an open/open set-up would complain about the vertical challenges. --- Some of the trails are pretty damned steep; with lots of loose rock thrown-in for good measure… Without a locker, I’m not sure that I would have made it up some of them myself.
Of course, I suppose there’s another way of looking at it…
If a group of
Isuzus can run Welder (without breakage), how hard could it really be?
Without a doubt - some of the trails are pretty narrow, so if the thought of getting scratches bothers you, you’ll probably want to go somewhere else.
I’ve also been to Cracker’s Neck, and there are a few trails over there that are mighty narrow too. --- One that we ran was barely even a trail at all… more like an over-grown / long-forgotten goat path of a logging road, with a dead-end at the top (and we didn’t even have anyone named Josh in our group!
)
I might be headed to Mountain City this weekend to visit a friend... Maybe we'll see you guys out there.
--- What CB channel do you think you'll be running?
Cheers!
