next mod?

You can get the Locrite or Aussie for around 275, sometimes as low as 225. Check with DC4WD or CRS, I think Andy at CRS has a special on one of the lunchbox types. You can probably install it yourself or get a friend to help, it's not that hard to do, instructions come with and are usually very clear, minimum tools required.

gearing won't change your locker, but if you are thinking about gearing to 4.10 I would hold off unless you don't mind putting a locker in your axle now and then pulling it out and putting in in another axle later because you can find axles with 4.10 in them for less than it would cost to buy the gears and pay someone to install them.

so i guess i will have to just wait and get it all at once

Or you could just save your time/effort and buy a Chevy, and whatdya know I got a very well built one for sale :driver:

But yea I think first step should be getting a new rear axle then afterward it'll be a matter of circumstance weather you gear or lock first. If you happen to get a a better rear axle that has 4.10 already then youll need to gear the front first to match, but if you get an axle that has the same gearing as the one you have now maybe you aught to lock em up first.

just as the title says

D30 from a 2000 TJ
4.10 gears
lockright locker
spare set of shafts
new unit bearings (5k miles)

the new unit bearings alone were $200 and the locker is worth 150, plus the spare shafts are about 100 and it already has 4.10s in it.

$300

My idea is this. Find an old Wagoneer or Cherokee with the Narrow Track axles. They're pretty easy to come by. Also see if you can score some wheels (because they will be 6 lug). Jeep made a sweet set of aluminum wheels that some have. I picked up a set of D44s for $200 with 4.09s. Weld them up and call it good. You'll have to search around but it's worth it IMO. You also need to get your hands dirty. It sounds like you want to pay someone for all this. Why not learn something about fabrication and do it yourself. I think you'll be pleased with the result in the end.

edit: I gave this more thought and I think you should probably stick with a bolt on type application. it's not a slight but sometimes I forget where I started.
