I helped a kid/friend take out his rear driveshaft to be repaired. It unbolted from a flange in the rear which was great and at the front (at the tranny) I just took the u-joint apart by pressing it through each side and removing both caps.
After I got it apart the slip yoke acted like it would come all the way out and it may have been how I should have removed it from the tranny in the first place. I left it in because I didn't want anything to slip into that slot that it came from.
BUT, I would rather be able to remove it also to send to the driveshaft shop with the shaft. There is a balance problem with the shaft plus I would just as soon them install the new ujoint while their at it.
So my question is, if I remove this slip yoke, will I be able to slip it right back in without damaging a seal or some kind of retainer falling in/out of place and it causing me more problems?

Thanks,
