Nissan frontier thermal idle valve replacemebt

I am replacing this valve in my 3.3L and want to know why the new one came compressed in a frame with a spring. Will it be damaged if I remove the spring for installation and it is allowed to fully extend?

No, just compress the spring and remove it from the metal bracket-y thing. Then install.
