Nissan - Toyota ?

negative. why do you prefer the yota trans?

yeah, but with dual trannys you can still run up the road. CJ (csudman on here) ran this set up on a yota pickup. 4.10 gears in the axle, 38's, and could run 80 on the interstate. his crawl ratio was around 150:1. and it' just something different like nissans

i am no where near 150:1 crawl ratio....more like 90:1 with the tcase gears (3.9:1). with 5.13s in the axles my nissan will run 80mph (on 37s) all day and still crawl well enough to keep me happy on any trails we run.

Nice site! Hadn't had time to explore it fully, but some good info. Plans for pathfinder (always subject to change, lol)

SAS
~5" lift (including 2-3 body lift)
cut fenders
dual trannys (prob toyota trannys cause I know it works)
37" tires
exo
flat belly

still in the planning phase of course...

It might help if you explained what the tranny model is in teh Nissan, e.g. is it an Aisin-Warner or Borg-warner or some similar product?

i havn't bought the nissan yet, still planning... just really love the dual trannys that csudman did, plus he's a friend so easy access to good help. Open for any ideas of a cool budget friendly build. My first wheeling rig was a nissan, thats why its in the running.

i don't know of anyone running duel transmissions on a nissan, but duel transfer cases yes. the doubler will set you back close to 1k and the other option for lower gearing would be crawler gears which will also set you back close to 1k. budget friendly crawler and nissan are two things that rarely colide in the same sentence.

with this said....you could run a 2wd trans and then a divorced case. i know folks running everything from sami cases to atlas.

don't know the specs on any of the nissan stuff. houdini has a good idea with the divorced thing. 2wd tranny, short dshaft, 4wd tranny and transfer case. only thing is you'd have to make a cover and seal it after you take off the bell housing on the 4wd tranny. have to be some machine work on the shaft of the 4wd to get a u joint from a drive shaft to work....but another option.

i can pick up the one from houdini next time i go to raleigh if you want bro. just let me know.

houdini thanks for all your help and input. my boy really appreciates it.
