this site says that nitrogen is better to run in tires for these reasons:

• Less inflation pressure loss
• Reduced wheel corrosion
• Prevents inner-liner rubber deterioration by oxidation
• Tires run cooler
• Increases tread life
• Increases fuel mileage
• Helps prevent uneven wear
