Jeep kept choking on me. Pump was fine before pulled, put engine/trans/transfer, harness, fuel lines, pump from old jeep into new jeep. Tank was the one that came with new jeep. Dirty sock on old pump, no second thoughts. Installed my pump. Jeep ran fine for 30 miles, jeep started bucking like it was starving/water in fuel. Add dry gas, no change. Change fuel filter. No change. Let jeep sit. Jeep run fine after for like 1 mile, then act up. Let sit, run fine. Replace pump, I get 15 miles, happened again, but this time I can go 35 uphill at least, and 50+ downhill with a tailwind. Crap in tank? These photos are of the inside..

I'm going to remove the tank and slosh the fuel around, dump, wash out and try and clean it out I guess.

Never really seen the inside of a tank in that amount of detail before, but to me it looks to be in pretty bad shape. Personally I'd replace that thing.

i'm going to take a few new pictures before I go pressure wash it at the carwash... we'll see.. looks like when I drained it that it had water in it too. and that is mostly mud in there.. and those pictures were from under the truck thru the sender hole. just don't drop the camera lol

Water in gas will turn into a rusty, muddy looking goop.
I've taken smaller tanks and filled with small rocks and rolled around for several minutes to remove rust deposits.

Well.. I went up there and pressurewashed it. Turned out OK I think. Etching would've made it nice and shiny but it'll be ok I think. Better than before at least. There was plenty of crud to stop the fuel strainer up... plenty. Washed with soapy pressure first then went to rinse. Took about 4 minutes for water to clear up.

After it was pressure washed for 8 minutes or so:

Moral of the story: Make sure all tanks have gas caps when you park it.
