Blonde, a Car and a Mattress - A TRUE STORY ??

A blonde ran over an innerspring mattress on the highway,
And decided not to worry -- and kept on driving.
It caught on the undercarriage of her Ford.

The ensuing jumble finally whipped around enough
To tear a hole in the fuel tank.

The subsequent lack of fuel is what finally
Brought her vehicle to its knees.

She had managed to drive 30 miles,
With a 60 pound tangle of stuff wrapped around her drive shaft.

She had it towed to her Ford dealership, and complained
That the vehicle had a 'sort of a noise'
When she was driving at high speeds.

Lots of patience, a small set of bolt cutters and a cut off wheel.

I've seen similar happen to a Suburban, and it really fawks up the underside.
 
Reminds me of a story I heard about a large, expensive, custom Hatteras fishing boat a man had built. It was delivered and upon the test drive he noticed a vibration the delivering captain tried to dismiss. On retuning to the dock the buyer had a diver go down to have a look, it turns out he had run over some crab pots or something on his way to the buyers local docks and the boat had some real damage from the fowled up junk beating on the bottom of the new boat as the scews turned. The buyer knew the delivering guy had to instantly know what had happened and I think I remember the buyer refused to recieve the boat and told him they could keep it because of the dishonesty.
 
I would have never believed this if i hadnt personally saw the video. A cop I know got into a chase with a drunk guy in an old truck. During the chase the truck runs through a chain link fence and the fence gets wrapped around the driveshaft like that. It puts a hole in the gas tank and starts leaving a trail of fire. It didn't last long before the whole truck was engulfed, but was awesome. It looked like back to the future. The worst part was that the guy jumped and ran and got away. He never heard the end of it.

Waaay back in the day, I was in a jeep climbing a hill that was covered in cudzu (sp) the stuff wrapped around both drive shafts and from the drivers seat it literally looked like it was being sucked under the jeep from 20 ft away. Took 2 hours to cut it out. It was a tangled web as big or bigger than the pic above.
 
There sure are plenty of crab pots out in the river near Hatteras! I still find it hard to believe its location and how such expensive boats go through those waters.

I swear I seen that on COPS or one of those worlds wildest shows LOL....
 
A buddy of mine had this happen to him on I-70 on the way to Moab. He was driving an F250 with a slide-in and his trail rig on the trailer. A car up ahead lost the mattress off the roof, and he had no place to go but straight over it. His description of the driveshaft sounded pretty much like the photos above. Luckily, that was the only damage. After a few hours on the shoulder snipping wires, they were on their way again.
 
I got a booty call one night. On the way over I ran over a mattress. I kept going. Luckily none of these bad things happened to me. A mattress got damaged that night, but it wasn't the one I ran over!!
