No Luck

Plot thickens...11 out of 12 balls out of spec. Softer balls...easier to handle...still won't make up 38 points, but Belichick should be suspended for the big game. And since this isn't the first time they've been caught cheating, I'd like to see a couple year playoff ban.

Officiating has been pi$$ poor the past two years (all that I've paid attention to anyway). No consistency at all. Blown calls, missed calls, call/no calls (Detroit vs. Dallas, for example). I've seen high school football games officiated more accurately and more fairly without the benefit of high speed cameras, video replays, etc.

The idea of picking up the flag after you threw (especially after the penalty has already been announced) it is so wrong on so many levels it's about unfathomable. When you have controversy after controversy after controversy, many of which directly have something to do with officiating, the pattern speaks for itself. If 11 of 12 balls were out of spec, first off shame on the cheater, but a bigger shame on the person who was supposed to check them, which is an official's task.

Not a popular thought...and a bit tin foil hattish...but I've thought for years that professional sports are a business like any other...and they'll do whatever they feel is necessary to make the most money. Wrestling has been an act for decades, boxing has been known to be scripted, athletes have been getting caught throwing games for as long as that game has been around...who says they're not being told how and when to throw it now and who says officials or umps or referees aren't being told what to do. I'm not saying every game is fixed, but ones that could have a large financial impact, I truly believe are manipulated in some fashion. Perfect example, when you have the Green Bay Packers kicking field goals twice inside the 1 and blowing a 20 point lead in the last 4 minutes...I'm not seeing very many other options. Vince McMahon and the XFL were just a decade early.
