Got a guestion for you Jeep guys. I just got a call from a friend who's 03 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0L will not start. They said that the battery looked bad so they tryed to jump it off. The engine would spin over fine while trying to jump but still no start? I'm not close enough to go and try and help so I'm looking for any ideas. Is there anything that is prone to go bad that I should know about? Thanks

Ask him to listen for the electric fuel pump buzzing when he first turns on the key. That's a common problem. Also, have him check for spark on the #1 plug wire. Could be bad coil, rotor cap, distributor cap, etc. There's really a number of causes, but I feel these are the moct common.

Check some of the BIG fuses up front....I popped one during an install once.

Crank positoin sensor? We had ours go bad ('99 WJ Ltd., v-8) -- spun but wouldn't catch. When it did, it ran really rough due to the timing being off from the sensor.

Its coil on plug ignition, so no distributor or cap or rotor

Just check for fuel and spark, then would be engine codes with a scanner, and fuel pressure
