Looking at buying a 96 Cherokee, trans needs replaced, got a buddy with a trans from a 90 XJ, I know the 90 xj was a non high output cherokee, so my question is:

Will I have any issues putting a 90 XJ tranny into a 96 XJ?
Both XJ's are automatic.

Got a newer one lined up, 93 model, still not a 96, worst case I suppose I could take the flywheel out of the 96? I dunno, one of those things Ill have to look at before I can actually understand it I figure.

Any help would be appreciated, picking up the XJ on Sunday.

I don't remember where the year break was but I think you'll have issues mating to the transfer case. I want to say non HOs are 21 spline output whereas HO trannys have 23 spline outputs.

Edit: year break was 91 so your 93 should be good to go as far as spline count goes.

Thanks man, well I can get the transfer case too... If I get the transfer case from the 93 is that the way to go? Im getting a killer deal on it regardless, an extra 25 for the T case isn't anything to worry about.

PM me if you have more information.

Punk ass said I had it regardless of who else was itnerested, we worked out a deal and everything, I had already arranged to borrow a trailer and have a buddy tow for me, and just texted me saying "sold it"

I talked to him 15 minutes prior and he said he would see me at noon...

Now he won't respond or answer the phone, really hate assholes :)
