I have a '51 chevy im working on, its a 3/4 ton with the inline 6 and 4 speed with granny gear transmission. My initial plans were to put the body onto a '78 cheyenne frame since I found one at a really good price that already had a 12 bolt in it and disk brakes and was set up for a sbc/tranny combo. Now im wandering if there is any way to mate the TH400 I have to the inline 6 thats currently in the truck. The truck is all original and runs in its current condition I just hate straight drives and want to switch to an automatic. Does anyone know of an adapter out there to make this combo happen?? Thanks for any help.

No adapter needed. sbc, bbc and inline 6's all use the same bell housing pattern.

As long as the crank of the SBC has a hole in the crank for the pilot bushing, and the front output of the tranny has a small enough end to slide into the pilot bushing, you are good, as said, bell housing pattern same for either.Start may6 be different depending on which combo you have,
