I may have to replace some axle bearings on my 90 Caprice. Does anyone happen to know if the bearings are pressed onto the axle shaft on this car? Do you have to crack open the diff to remove the shafts, or does it have the retainers at the end of the housing? Thanks much.

C-clip axle, typical 10 bolt.

pull cover, remove spider shaft, push axles in and pull out C clip. remove axle shaft.

axle bearings are driven it, will either need LONG piece of black pipe or a slide hammer and bearing puller to remove. and a bearing driver to install. (don't forget new seals too )

Okay, thanks. I was really hoping it would be the type that are pressed onto the axle like what was on the Trans Am I used to own. :(
