My dad hooked into this catfish last night (pic below), so we decided to get a couple hours in on the lake this morning before work (also testing out a new Johnny Morris setup I picked up). I brought in 4 bass and a pretty decent bream, all on a Rebel Pop-R and my ol' man brought in a few on a fly rod. I pretty much only fish top water now, so this is one of the best times of the year for my style of fishing. Here are a few from the day, all caught on Mountain Island Lake-

Nice little bream (fought as hard as the bass)

I had never fished the dam before, so we packed up and headed out at 5:30am this morning to try it out. All top water:

that woman's phone is hideous

I caught all of those on a rebel pop-r, including the grass carp. I pretty much only fish with that lure, my dad was caching his with a floating shad with a diving bill. Best lick I've had on Mtn Island since moving here 5 years ago.

just my little two pennies but if your ever fishing down past the dam , going away from mountain island lake,go about a mile down from where 27 passes over and there will be a creek on your left. I was told if you would wont to catch some bass that's where you can go.

Good haul man....that's one of my favorite spots to fish on mil
