Here is the plan from the USFS.

Hi Everyone – Sorry for the delay in getting details out to you for the workday. We’re still playing a bit of catch-up on projects and other deadlines. This weekend Rodney Smith will be meeting you at the Uwharrie Hunt Camp at 9 am. When putting the orange diamonds up to mark the real trail make sure you’re not marking the illegal bypasses.

Falls Dam Trail (#96) – Add more orange diamonds (on both sides of trail), add number decals on the orange diamonds and arrows to the trail (in the curves) from both directions. Where the long 40 ft culvert was installed a couple years ago install short sections of split rail fencing to protect stream and block off one hill climb. The split rail is there and I put orange flagging up to mark the site. Add one piece of split rail to the section right next to where the split rail is piled up. Brush back the mt laurel, holly and other shrubs and cut down any leaning trees or overarching trees that are within 10 to 15 ft above the trail corridor.

At yellow caution flagging towards the Flatwoods TH slash in the hill climbs and keep the yellow caution tape up. Slash in some mud holes (Darin knows where) near the Flatwoods end of the trail.

Dickey Bell Trail (#91) – Need to put orange diamonds and arrows to direct people (especially ATV and Dirt Bikes) to turn onto trail towards Haltiwanger Road and then along the road back to the trail that goes to the Dickey Bell Bridge. Cut back mt laurel, holly and other shrubs and cut down trees in the middle of the rock crawl section that’s closer to the Green Gap Road end and cut other trees that are in the middle of the trail. Clear out trees that are leaning into trail or overarching trail that are within 10 to 15 ft above the trail corridor. Put number decals on the orange diamonds and add more orange diamonds and arrows (on the curves). Slash in illegal hill climbs and bypasses.

Wolf Den Trail (#89) – Brush back bushes at the intersection of Dutch John Trail & Wolf Den Trail. Put more orange diamonds and arrows up and put decal numbers on the orange diamonds. Slash in illegal hill climbs and bypasses.

Forest Road 516 / Falls Dam Trail – Brush back Forest Road 516 and add more orange diamonds on the section that is considered part of Falls Dam Trail (#96) and put decal numbers on the orange diamonds.

One crew (that knows the trail names, & numbers well) can re-sign the trail intersections. The majority of our carsonite signs are missing at the intersections.

Thank you all for your time volunteering on the trails. It is greatly appreciated. Bye - Terry

Unfortunately I will miss this one. I have a prior commitment to a big family get together at my house. I should be able to make the next one though.

Had about 10 guys out there today and got a bunch of illegal trails blocked off. About 5 total on Falls Dam.

Thanks everyone. Great workday.

Thanks John. But got to give credit where it is due and Chris has been the one doing all the coordinating with the USFS this year. I am the one just trying to make it happen out there. We did get some major stuff blocked that needed to be blocked. Hope it stays that way now. Rodney helped us big time out there though.

Sorry I have not been there these past 2 work days. I will be there the next ones as we are trying some major issues..... Darren, don't be modist, I could not do it without ya, you have way more knowledge of the area.

I might have knowledge, but when it comes to being PC with some folks that is way out of my league.
