So I have a 2000 wrangler sport with a np 3550 tranny was told it was an ax15 and just ordered it. so now trannys are side by side and it is not working I have been told that all I need to do is get bell housing and shifter off of an ax15 and it will work can anyone deny or confirm?

I think it also uses a different size pilot bushing but that's not a big deal. Also will need to use the slave cylinder off the old tranny if you switch bell housings, which I don't think you will have to do. These are the things I ran into putting a 3550 in my friends YJ that had an ax-15. Good luck.

Not sure I would replace 3550 with ax-15, if you want to swap in a v8 later the 3550 is a little stronger but the ax-15 shifts a little smoother . Can you send it back? Isn't the 1st gear in ax15 higher too?

There is a 40% restocking fee which is bull sh1t so I'm gonna post it for sale on here. Got it for 1200 shipped with 1 year warrenty Hoping I can get 1k. We sized them up today and there are too many differences no point to down grade I found a local place that will rebuild my np3550 for 1350. Just gonna cut my losses.

Check out Mantrans at manual-transmission.com
They sent me a rebuilt ax15 in a crate then I just put the old one back in the same crate for a core - $750. (6years ago)
I liked the fact they test their stuff on the bench before shipping.

Ive got an NV3550 in good condition ready to come out of my jeep for an NV4500 swap. PM me if you're interested, definitely be cheaper than a rebuild.

When is somebody gonna make lower first gears for trannys like they do for transfer cases?

they do make them for some autos. not for any manuals that i'm aware of though...

Not going to mess with it, it's in the parts for sale thread now. jeepinmatt i sent you a pm. Thanks for the website jdubb but i dont really need another ax15 lol trying to sale this one.
