Any of you guys or gals been wheelin at Oak Ridge in VA? Its my understanding that Jeep Jamboree is held there or has been held there in the past.

I'll be there this weekend and I am interested in hearing any reviews or taking a look at any pics you all have.

Thanks

I have been. There are a couple of fun spots but it is totally closed if there is no organized ride. They typically only open up for the jam. and an annual ride that I know of. They also have rides during off times for those people that will be trail guides. For the most part it is a great place for a drive, not a lot of rock crawling.

I was up there for ajeep jamobree in 05. It is quite mild for a well built rig. I rode in my brothers stock jeep X and had a blast.
Lots of stream crossing, hill climbs, some rock crawlind and beautiful sceneary. I would jup at the chance to ride there again, I think that we paid $250.ea to ride the trails.

Everyone will have fun!

Camp Jeep has been there (excpet for the last few years)... its alright... a couple of awesome spots... but be prepared to wait in lines. Go 5 feet picture go 5 more picture.

If you go for a "big ride" then expect an ok wheeling and alot of solizing. On the trail rides they give you three tries... then you are done and must move on. If you get a cool trail guide you will have a blast.. if you get a anal trail guide then expect to have more fun socializing then wheeling. The fun guy I had was an older white guy, little beard, driving a CJ with antique tags I believe. I can not remeber his name!! it was like charlie.. danny.. ah I do not know. But he was a blast!! The Other trail guide I had was "blah", not very personalable.

My two cents... get towards the front of the pack.. unless you are pretty modified with good mud tires.

Pics...

that was group two.. Most of those guys were cool, And I will always look for dan in the teal jeep. He over does the camping and is great entertianment

Thanks Purple! I will keep those suggestions in mind. I know its gonna be extremely muddy tomorrow. I think they are expecting 2" of rain today and tonight. Wish I had some boggers and not the MT/Rs.

Good pic too! Thanks again!

i was there in '03
there's a couple nice water crossings
and one place called cj-5 hill
short water crossing with a 10 ft slate 45 degree incline on the other side

that's about it

thanks everyone for the info!

oak ridge was fun, but i probably will not return. it just wasn't all that exciting. kind of a drive in the woods with a few obstacles thrown in here and there. the trails were super tight, wet, and sloppy. my paint job is hurting as a result.

i got selected as a trail gunner for my group after our original trail gunner and guide toasted his rear. we had some smaller vehicles and we didn't get to see all the park had to offer. because of the 2+" of rain they got on Friday my group opted not to try some of the higher water crossings (CJ5 hill was one we did not do).

anyway....good little area. the guides were friendly and very helpful!

few pics below.

Well heck a bad day of wheeling still beats a good day at work, eh?

I guess it really depends on what you were looking for, if you want pure obstacles, you are looking at something like Windrock (rattlerock) or others.

A lot of folks really enjoy the trail riding part, less stress on the wallet, more of a place to hang out, get nice "wallpaper" shots for the work computer! :)

at the water crossing is where I spent 20 minutes bandaging my diff covers wounds.... but I did get up the wet rock last!!!! whooohhhooooooooo

Like I said... You go for the social more then anything at that place (I think I said it here)
