The dreaded 'Check Engine Soon' light came on last night and got it checked by AutoZone today....trouble code: P0180. The Tank Fuel Temperature Sensor is acting up.
I've got a FSM for my truck thanks to rbo1577186 and will be trouble shooting ASAP. My question is does anybody really know what this is for rather than just monitoring? Last time I looked the only things in the tank are the temp. sensor (no idea why), fuel pump and fuel tank gauge. Why monitor the temperature unless you have a system in place to regulate it?
This could just be my hatred of the complicated computerized engines vs. older cars, but I would really like to know if its used for anything at all or if I'm just overlooking the obvious.
Moderators: didn't know if this fell into general tech or newbie tech, if I'm wrong.....sorry

It might be to moniter the temp of the tank so it will open the purge valve if it gets too hot. heat=pressure.
