This maybe the wrong place to post this so please move it if needed.

I am looking for suggestions on a OBDII reader and software for a laptop. Nothning to too fancy, Just the most bang for the buck. Ofcourse I want to be able to pull codes, and real time monitoring of the system would be good also.

So what do you guys think?

winaldl works great and is free for supported vehicles.

you will have to make your own cable...but you can handle that

I would love more info on this. Does it work like the snap on scanners?

i use proscan. it give you real time data and fuel economy analysis data. and you can download the complete system to look at before you buy it. you just cant hook up to a vehicle and scan until you purchase it. http://www.myscantool.com/index.html

you have to buy the license to use there software. the good thing is, if you have a problem, they make it right. there customer service was awesome. plus when you buy, you get everything you need in a package deal.

p.s. i just downloaded an update for free.

most of those scan tools will not let you change values only read....winaldl lets you reprogram....
