OBDII Scan Tool

Autel makes really nice stuff. There's a lot of flavors and a huge range of price, and it all depends on what you want to do and what vehicles you have. I have a nice basic MD808Pro that I use all the time on friends/coworkers vehicles, although I often wish I had something more expensive to do more things, but a lot of those things are vehicle specific...

Is there anything between that $300 scan too and the $3000 diagnostics tool?

I have ForScan for ford vehicles. It’s cumbersome but is close to dealer level and free.

I have an two Autels.
One is the basic code reader.
The other is the does quite a bit more .... does some live data, but one step below live data and all sensor stuff.
Doesn't seem to be anything between the $300 (what I have) and the 3 big.
Although I have heard good things about the Harbor Freight high end Zurich at about a $1000.

Best tip i have is to decide what you want then buy it online and pick it up in store ..... you save about 20% just doing that way.

I have autoenginuity at home. At work I use a small launch scan tool just for checking codes and basic data. If it's not enough the shop has a 10k snap on scan tool that we all share.

For home use I use autoenginuity, you download it on a laptop, they send you an obd2 to USB cable and a security dongle. It does alot of stuff, it'll check every computer on the car, ecm, bcm, airbag, and, radio, HVAC, transfer case, etc. It has some two way capabilities like reprogramming tire sizes or programming diesel injector flow rates at replacement.

Autoenginuity lets you buy single or bundles, you can buy (in 2017 last time I updated mine) a single make for $150, Ford for example, for around $700 you could get the domestic bundle which is ford, GM, and Chrysler. Same for Asian or European bundles. They have a package for two or all three bundles too or you can just buy one for each individual make you own.

It's a little clunky to use but it does work.

I'd love to have two way ability but that is obviously much more expensive. I like the autoenginuity looks pretty good.

Bluedriver has a ton of mixed reviews mostly from the UK. Hard to sort through it all.

But blue driver has the best price point.

I have been using a blue driver for 2 years. It does 95% of everything I could need. I have had to take a vehicle to the dealership twice in that time period to pull codes it couldnt. Keep in mind, I scan up to 50 cars a day at auction.
