So we have been graced enough to get a 16br house out in carova beach. We are taking a few wranglers, xj's, and a few grands. This is like 12.5 miles into the 4x4 area and I hear if you take anything but 4wd you are a sitting duck. 2 or 3 people are coming half way through the week and have civics etc. Is there any where out in that area someone can leave a vehicle for a day or 2 without worries so we can pick them up? Thanks for any info guys/ladies

well the bech area is hard sand...but still can't park the cars there...there are a few shoping centers in crolla where it should be ok...there might be some other spots that are new for the purpose...i moved away last year so you never know...the better trails for wheeling are on the back sound side...P.S. check ever mud hole befor entering...

yea one of the girls is coming in a civic and the other in a 2wd escape so I don't wanna even try. I'm not spending my vacation draggin rice ass all over the place. I would assume they have a parking area but can't find squat

we stayed in Corolla, NC last year and i drove out on corova beach a few times. definitely need 4wd. try to stay on the sand closer to the water as it's packed down more. i had to pull a newer trailblazer out of the deep sand b/c he was just digging himself a hole. there are plenty of shopping centers that you should be ok with leaving a vehicle at. here is some pics we took last year:

Yea I should be fine. Slightly worried about my buddy with the stock wrangler who has never put a vehicle in 4wd and the girl with the ford escape but I guess thats what winches are for. We are gonna be 12.5 miles up from corolla which I didnt even know it went out that far so its going to be a slow slow trip up there.

yeah my yj is stock too. well, it has 31s and a winch but that's it. just put it in 4wd and keep the wheels moving and you guys should be fine. i saw people airing down their tires but i kept mine at normal psi b/c i heard you need to keep them up. someone else will have to chime in on that. the beach access is, oh, i'd say about a mile north of corolla but there is houses and stores and stuff almost all the way to the entrance. kinda cool how you are just driving north and all of a sudden you are on the beach. it seemed like the beach went on for miles and miles. we were out there for probably half an hour or so driving around. bunch of people go out there to fish and what not. you'll probably see the wild horses as well.

I was 9 miles up last year. You'll be fine as long as ALL vehicles driving on the beach have 4x4.
As for parking, is this house you're getting hooked up with a rental? If so, they should have parking for cars. If not, shopping centers...

Have fun bro! It's a blast. We attended some wicked parties on the beach that others were throwing... everyone is pretty chill.

Oh and as for letting air out, I didn't and no one in my party did either. Everyone was fine...

careful of those horses! their worse than deers and can cause a lot more damage

id be careful about parking at the smaller strip malls , generally if they see a car sitting to long they will tow it.the food lion is your best bet.

Some Rental companies like Twiddy have places to park your cars for the week if they can't make it off the road. The real key is to DROP YOUR TIRE PRESSURE. Lowering it down to 15PSI and you might not even need to keep it in 4wd. I live in Carova and just leave my sock Durango at 18PSI and only pump them if I'm going onto the mainland.

you completely lost me when you said 16 bedroom house. I feel so small now

actually I think we got bumped down to a 12 or 13 bedroom. Made me a sad puppy. We were supposed to stay in this monster
