Anyone out there know how much trouble/ fab. work/ nightmares it would be to put a inline 6 cyl. datsun/nissan diesel out of a 82 maxima into 84 toyota x-cab 4x4 5 speed with a 22r.
thx for any and all info.

Right off the top of my head the main thing I see is that you'd have to run a divorce mount case.

I really don't think they'll both fit in there, unless you're putting them in the back. Actually, doubt it's much harder than any other swap where you have to make all your own mounts etc. The only thing I'd be concerned about would be if the whole thing would fit. Don't know how long the Datsun engine is. You might have to move the radiator to the outside of the front clip or cut and re-weld the firewall if it's too long. I know they can put a supra turbo motor in one, but it's a pretty tight fit. The other thing to remember is that diesel engine ways a bunch more than the 22r so you'll need to beef up the springs.

It sounds like a lot of work, but will be cool when it's done. is the diesel turboed?

tks rattlecan and mudder. Rattlecan I thought about the 22r under the hood and the inline in the bed. :driver:
I plan on trying to pull some loose measurements this weekend if no bad weather. Thought I would ask to see if anyone had heard of such a creature.
Also it is not turbo as of now.

that should be the sd33... they came in the scout and cj10 factory... it will do some work, but you could make it fit... as said, it might be tight, or you may haveto cut the firewall/move the radiator....

It it shares the same bolt pattern as the Scout does you could use a 727/Dana 20 or the T-18,T-19/Dana 20's that came in the Scouts. They also make adapter's to put Chevy trannies behind a IH engine.
